We reside in an era of rapid changes and technological innovations. Set against this dynamic backdrop, market leadership, across diverse industries, has become more precarious. Evidently, the dynamic and sustainable way to stay ahead of the competition is through adaptive and response time advantages.
If there is one company that truly understands the importance of this competitive advantage in the field of metal stampings, it is West Coast Metal Stamping. This California based company knows how to keep moving and always stay on the cutting edge. West Coast Metal Stamping provides precision metal stamping services for customers across diverse industries. Primarily focused on medium- to high-volume production of metal stamped parts, West Coast Metal Stamping specializes in creating precision metal stamping from stainless steel and exotic metals and offers complete engineering support to help customers optimize their part designs for better manufacturability.
West Coast Metal Stamping has carved out a niche by overcoming long-standing and diverse challenges in the industry. “The fast-moving market in stamping has brought in a wave of innovations. Customers need solutions and services that help them respond always on-time with better products, and lower costs through innovation—all without compromising on the quality. Added to that, customers seek faster time to market with tools that are customized to their specific requirements. This is precisely what West Coast Metal Stamping brings together to the table with the goal of being a no-risk supplier to our customers,” says Dan Totoiu, President and CEO of the company.
Established in 1964, West Coast Metal Stamping draws on its rich experience and expertise to meet customer-specific requirements across automotive, aerospace, pumps, telecommunications, solar electrical, electronics, and commercial industries. In order to reduce costs and transfer savings to the customers, the company continuously monitors efficiency and quality costs (PPM) to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. From precise washers to complex automotive and aerospace application parts, the company dispatches tens of millions of parts per year at low PPM and zero delays on deliveries.
But there’s more to this than meets the eye: last year in the first and second quarters there was a contraction in the market. Even so, West Coast Metal Stamping managed not only to exceed the business goals by the end of 2019 but also to have a record year.
Besides its unwavering commitment to meet and exceed customer expectations, the uniqueness of West Coast Metal Stamping also stems from its highly effective quality system designed to improve all aspects of its precision metal stamping. With an aim to simplify and streamline the quality management system, the company identifies, supports, and links customer-oriented processes to its own quality procedures and organizational chart. All processes are measured and maintained with the specific goal of exceeding the customers’ expectations.
Customers need solutions and services that help them respond with low risk solutions, better products, and improved costs through innovation—all without compromising on the quality. This is precisely what West Coast Metal Stamping brings together to the table
Moreover, what makes the company second to none is its ability to provide, from the early stages of the design process, the best engineering support possible in response to the new ideas and requirements for new materials. “Our strategy is to stay focused on maintaining the highest level of quality while implementing new projects and lowering internal costs. We are also finalizing the implementation of a new ERP system to get a better analysis of our company,” asserts Totoiu, who is an awarded scholar in mechanical engineering and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt by the American Society for Quality.
Illustrating more on the proficiency of West Coast Metal Stamping, Totoiu cites a customer success story that involved an aerospace company. The aerospace company wanted to reduce the cost of a machine part by designing stem spark, which was complex and complicated. West Coast Metal Stamping came on board and worked with the customer to understand the crux of the matter. The engineering department designed a tool to produce that part and improved manufacturability and inspection of the parts. “I have worked with the engineering department to create a product that has never been rejected in 10 years,” mentions Totoiu.
With a strong value proposition in place, West Coast Metal Stamping believes that the key to success is to stay focused on enhancing the metal stamping process. Also, the company is currently exploring different tools to work faster and minimize costs. On the other hand, the full implementation of the new ERP system will make management decisions much quicker.
